How far they deliver
Drones fly from a store, hub or dock and reach homes within a few miles of it. Typical ranges, as the operators describe them:
- Zipline: a 10-mile service radius around each dock (P2) (Zipline, Jul 24, 2023)
Whether an address is covered depends on where the operator's sites are. Check the operator's app before ordering.
How to order and what to expect
- To check eligibility, customers enter their street address in the Zipline app, which shows approved delivery spots or says the address is not serviceable yet. (Zipline Help Center, Sep 2, 2026)
- Zipline says trees, power lines, nearby buildings, airspace limits or a lack of clear space can make an address ineligible even inside a service area. (Zipline Help Center, Sep 2, 2026)
- Delivery fees and minimum basket values are set by each partner store and shown at checkout; some partners charge no delivery fee. (Zipline Help Center, Sep 2, 2026)
- Zipline's help center gives an approximate weight limit of 5 pounds per trip; heavier orders can be split into several deliveries. (Zipline Help Center, Sep 2, 2026)
- Zipline says most home orders arrive in less than 30 minutes from the time they are placed. (Zipline, checked Oct 23, 2026)
- The drone does not land; it stays hundreds of feet up and lowers a pod with the order to the ground on a tether. (Zipline Help Center, Sep 2, 2026)
- When a store is closed or weather has paused flights, the Zipline app shows an 'Order for later' option that can notify the customer when service resumes. (Zipline Help Center, Sep 2, 2026)
- Walmart pharmacy deliveries by Zipline generally run 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and are requested by calling the pharmacy after setting up a Zipline account. (Zipline Help Center, Sep 1, 2026)
- Zipline said in October 2026 that new flight software now used across its fleet cuts sound exposure per flight by 68 percent, a figure from its own modeling rather than independent measurement. (DroneLife, Oct 29, 2026)
